It is year 3 in the life of an electric car, before the CO2 savings from greener fuel, exceed the higher CO2 emitted in manufacture,  But over 5 years an electric  car is better, and the planet really gains from extending its life to 8, 10  or 12 years, where it replaces a necessary petrol or diesel car.
